Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Sep 19, 2012 7:17 pm Hi we are on 5 acres, and last yr we planted about 50 odd syzygium australe (lilliy Pilliys) across the front of our place. (150m wide) After 18 months of mowing around them on the mower its became a pain and next week we are uplifting them all and putting them in a mounded garden bed across the front of the place. My question is im also wanting to add some other plants. In between each lilliy pilliy im thinking (but am flexible) to purple fountain grass - i love the colour of this grass. Is there something else i could be recommended? Now these will be on the road side, but on the inside of im waiting to add more colour Im thinking either kangaroo paw (im in love with the pink range) or society garlic. Now other than the lilliy pilliys im open to suggestions, but i thought i would give you a bit of an idea of the look im after. thanks in advance Built with Beechwood Homes 2011. Whereabouts are you building? How are you finding the lillypillies? They're the kind that are blighted with the parasites aren't they? We have a couple of small ones and they have bubbly red leaves. We have a really nice variety of Callistemon Macarthur and they're doing pretty well. Ours are going beautifully. Re: Help with plant selection - native gardens 3Sep 20, 2012 12:21 am Thanks, we have already built, in the hunter valley, NSW We love the lilliy pilliys, havent had any problems with them to far, my siblings and parents have also had them for years on there acreages and never any dramas. I have been going some research and i think im going to go with lomandra longifoila in between each lilly pilliy then society garlic on the inside that we will see from the house.
