Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Sep 10, 2012 10:42 pm Hi Hoping for some help. I'm needing to chose an exposed aggregate colour for my driveway and path but having trouble deciding. I have predominantly grey colours ie zinc bricks, monument garage door, so looking at a grey colour. Would anyone have suggestions/ photos on what they might think will go well, or is a grey charcoal colour. Re: exposed aggregate 2Sep 11, 2012 12:05 pm Not sure where you are located but in melbourne we tend to speciy the "Balcombe" mix wich is from Mentone Pre Mix - http://www.mentonepremix.com.au/images/ ... EV5118.jpg Its a great mix between light and dark which will tie back in with your monument. I think going too dark with a dark base concrete and dark stone mix you loose the feeling of the exposed look. the light base of the balcombe mixed with dark agg would be my suggestion. let me know how you go. Re: exposed aggregate 3Sep 11, 2012 12:27 pm Thanks for that suggestions. Im located in the northern suburbs, but will definitely have a look at this. I dont want something too dark so the light and dark combination might be the way to go. Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks again blacky199 Re: exposed aggregate 4Sep 11, 2012 12:31 pm We used 'The Metro' from Cranbourne Premix http://www.cranbournepremix.com.au/galleries/site/ DH wanted dark and I wanted light and 'The Metro' was a compromise between the two. Couldn't be happier. Re: exposed aggregate 6Sep 11, 2012 12:57 pm We got it done through the builder and paid $130sqm. It would probably be cheaper dealing directly with the concreter. Re: exposed aggregate 7Sep 11, 2012 1:33 pm Catjim's suggestion is pretty similar to the balcombe mix from mentone. I beleive that mentone pre-mix do charge a pretty high price for the concrete mix itself so it might be worth checking out similar mixes from other suppliers. I guess it all comes down to the concreter you use. they will get any mix from any supplier but it might be worth asking the concreter that you eventually end up engaging to recommend a similar mix to the balcombe and metro and they will most likely know or deal with their own pre-mix company where they can get it cheaper. Without actually seeing the mixes in a large sample on site i could not suggest another mix colour. We specify Balcome alot in our $mil new homes we design and have seen it in the flesh so am happy to reccommend. If you were considering the darker mixes then i would reccommend MONTQUARTZ - http://www.mentonepremix.com.au/images/ ... EV5099.jpg. We also specify this mix but not as often. We specify if there is alot of white tones on ground floor walls to provide for a contrasting look. But by the sounds of what you had explained your garage door is monument and your bricks are zinc. Couldn't be happier. I just rang to get a quote per square mt and they charged $159 per sq m and thats dealing directly with the builder. Ours was done in April last year so it would have probably gone up a bit. I'll pm you the phone number for our concreter. Re: exposed aggregate 12Sep 14, 2012 10:26 am We ended up selecting a one of Boral's range of exposed aggregate. We are extremely happy with the colour and also the quality of work. The price was the cheapest i had been quoted. if you'd like the concreter's details and also some pics of my driveway, please pm me. cheers. Re: exposed aggregate 13Sep 14, 2012 9:41 pm Hi! i paid under $100 per m2 for 32mPa Boral Starlight exposed aggregate. it was the cheapest of all 4 quotes i got and the guy was a excellent. it's been almost a year and there are no cracks in either my driveway or rear drive through and path. the colour is very similar to Miday MiniMix's St.albans coloured exposed aggregate. Last year I had a gas leak at my house. 3 days later, I have about 1 sqm of my exposed aggregate paving broken up. I am not sure how to go about getting it repaired… 0 10415 After some ideas on making our patio kid friendly . Currently we have exposed aggregate.
