They get lots of pests and stink when infested. Better hedging plants out there. There is a lot of threads dedicated to the very question you ask. A lot. From them you will find a raft of options. I ask people to look past lily pilly's for something better and less disease prone. I have seen them used bust haven't seen anywhere that I can buy them He he, obviously you didn't read Fu's post Lilly pilly's are a little pest prone also, grown in good soil with good sunlight they go alright but you need to select a more psyllid resistant variety such as acemena smithii. Really though their are easier plants, such as the perennial Perth favorite on this forum, Murraya paniculata. It doesn't seem to get many psyllids at all but does seem to have a few brownish leaves on the Southern side lower leaves ( fungal attack maybe ? ). We planted it as a bird and insect attractant to the rear garden which is does well, but it also attracts the small ringtail possums and rats which get stuck into the flowers which by the way smell very nice.
