Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Sep 08, 2012 5:46 pm Im an avid reader Fu of all your posts and I have been desperately going through all of them to find out the correct ratio of molasses and seasol to how much water and I know your probably sick of going over it all but Im desperate and went and saved your laying new turf to my favourites and also the sustainable outdoor you tube clip. I am very much a greeny and try and do everything I can to educate people about using bentonite and zeolite to improve their sandy soils in Perth as I work in a garden centre and started my own garden design business I find your information invaluable and pass as much on as I can and often tell them to join this amazing forum. Im hoping to educate people to be able to enjoy thier garden, take pleasure from it and to plant according to thier garden expertise without the use of chemicals. Keep up the good work. I am also trying to find seamungus as my nursery has just ordered sand remedy for us to supply to our customers and this isnt on our stockist list and Bunnings doesnt have it in Northern suburbs. Re: molasses/seasol mix 2Sep 08, 2012 6:10 pm bunnings used to sell seamungus in bags and tubs. If you have a business you maybe able to buy it from the wholeseller. I think they based in malaga or wangara from memory. Neutrog Seamungus I remember finding the info via google 2 years ago. Check this thread for seamungus discussion. viewtopic.php?f=19&t=59378&p=918566#p918566 Re: molasses/seasol mix 3Sep 08, 2012 9:40 pm I got a bucket of Seamungus from the big green shed last weekend. For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!! Re: molasses/seasol mix 6Sep 11, 2012 3:11 pm Another way of mixing this up if you're not bothered in getting the exact ratios and having to do them everytime you fill the watering can is to use the good old wheel barrow. Just ration out some of the sticky molasses into a small container and put in some seasol or powerfeed at the same time. Put this in the wheel barrow and simply use your hose to jet the water into the container and fill the Wbarrow up to the brink. This will mix the water and the molasses mix together easily. Just dunk your platic 9L watering can in the Wbarrow and the way you go. I can get about 8-10 dunks before going through the whole process again but its a lot faster and with less wastage than filling the can one at a time. I use the same method with the wetting concentrates, however I normally fill the wbarrow first then put some amount in a watering can and fill it up with water before adding the lot to the wheel barrow for the final mixing. Less froth wastes. Hope this helps. R Re: molasses/seasol mix 7Sep 11, 2012 3:13 pm Seamungus can be ordered in a big bag from places like Landmark- for the same price as the Big Green Shed's bucket! Pour a bit of molasses into an empty seasol spray container. 2. Fill with water. 3. Shake contents. 4. Click hose on. 5. Turn tap on. 6. Hold seasol container in one hand while watering lawn and garden. 7. Hold beer in your other hand. 8. Job done! molasses/seasol mix 9Sep 11, 2012 6:22 pm Oh dear. Sorry 4 linking back to this thread. Mclaren has the idea and for seasol as per bottle Re: molasses/seasol mix 10Sep 14, 2012 11:04 pm Thanks for all your help guys, Bunnings Joondalup do have 2kg and 12 kg buckets of seamungus though it is more expensive than buying in from Landmark in Midvale but for convenience I just got it anyway as I feel the benefits of having the product is more important and probably the petrol will cost more than the price difference anyway by the time I drive out to Midvale. I also armed myself with some Neutrog organic 'rocket fuel' fertiliser which was right beside the seamungus as supplied by the same stockists and looks to be good stuff. now with the great weather us Perthites are getting this weekend am going to have a lovely weekend playing in my garden and giving it the royal organic treatment......will keep you posted and all going well ...my garden going to take off and be very happy. there is only 20% difference in concrete strength between 20 mpa and 25 mpa, so check with your engineer first if it fits his calculation tolerances.
