Why is it important to ensure that soil is moist before applying this type of weed killer? My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... Re: "Once a year" weed killers - Instructions for use 2Sep 01, 2012 9:21 am So it soaks into the soil profile and doesnt wash away/run off to an undesired area. Its pretty nasty stuff, make sure you know 100% that there is no tree/plant roots in the area and the topsoil in the area will not shift around under heavy rain. If the chemical moves to another part of your garden it could kill desirable plants not to mention it could get into the storm water system. Re: "Once a year" weed killers - Instructions for use 3Sep 01, 2012 2:53 pm Amen its nasty stuff. I would suggest to people to not use these products. The soil and surface needs to be wet because it prevents staining. Various companies selling this stuff years ago started to get some problems with peoples driveways being stained and ruined. Expensive. So now all labels state the surface must be damp/wet/moist before application to reduce the risk of this occurring. So they can wreck a drive and it can have environmental problems also. The Australian Government still say the contents are safe for use in Australia. I, and many others hope this changes soon. It's the way these products find their way into storm water runoff thats of greatest concern to many in enviro science.
