Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Jun 27, 2012 10:17 pm I've probably got another 3-5 months to finish up my house build, but as an owner builder taking over from just past lock up - the rest of the house build is on me. I thought I'd get ahead of the curve and get some landscaping plans drawn up. I hired Scott Brown Landscaping to make up a set of drawings for me, and so far very happy. Here's the draft plans Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We're just now working through plant schedules. I've never hired any landscapers before, or sourced plants in Melbourne - so if you have recommendations on who could help me put his vision into reality in the melbourne area (close to latrobe uni) - send me your recommendations. So far I think Scott's doing a great job, but I've never hired a stand alone landscape designer before. my house blog: http://sugarloafdrivebuild.blogspot.com/ Re: Draft landscape plans 2Jun 28, 2012 1:48 am I can't help with advice, but I'd love more info on the designer you have used! We are also based in Victoria (Ballarat) -- we're they expensive to get a design drawn? Good luck with it - the sketches look amazing! I paid about $4000 for drawings, and there's several more pages, with detailed plant species information, cross sections and construction notes. The way I look at it, is that doing the landscaping work detailed here, would probably cost me about $40,000. (The front retaining walls are probably 15k in construction costs). If I hired someone to do all the work, then I would pay a 20% project management fee as part of the bill. Doing this approach, I have a master plan to follow, and I can do the landscaping piece by piece, without it seeming like a bunch of random stuff that just came together. I might be a year or two finishing it all up, but now that it's mapped out I can do it in bite sized pieces. my house blog: http://sugarloafdrivebuild.blogspot.com/ Re: Draft landscape plans 4Jul 01, 2012 5:25 pm I think thats a great idea...
