Hi
Does anyone know what type of Bamboo Dan and Dani used on the block, I love the lushness of it and its exactly what we need in our garden to give us privacy from our neighbours.

Most bamboos have a shallow root system, so you only need up to 50cm depth (hence why lots of people put them in pots). There are lots of varieties (e.g.: gracilias mentioned here) which grow tall and upright and are perfect for planting in tight spaces. They even grow in 20 cm wide spaces! Check out the websites that Kek mentioned as they talk about the differences in root systems between clumping and running, which will make more sense when choosing them. Youtube have some great clips showing how fast some varieties grow. Also, bamboo releases 50% more oxygen into the atmosphere than trees We are planting a clumping variety along our back fence (to cover about 15m length). Haven't decided on the variety yet but the garden bed is ready, now just have to purchase before Spring, which is the main growth season. Also chosen them because they are a hardy grass, evergreen and grow really fast. I just wish I'd done research on bamboo plants prior to starting landscaping as I would have used more of them. Big convert. Good luck. 6 11152 Yes it had a house on it. But Melbourne water only wanted something the original size of the existing house. We managed to fit a 45sq house on. 10 33668 4 4499 |
