Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Jun 12, 2012 4:41 pm Hi, This is probably a silly question Our front window (lounge/study) is about 6 meters from the road (a quiet suburban street). Our house is set down about 1.5 meters from the road so from the window we can see a retaining wall and a bit of garden and then the street. We are about to start our landscaping and I had been thinking along the lines of getting smaller plants so we can still see the road and so the front window is not blocked from view from the street. But I am having second thoughts - why do I need to see the road? why does someone on the road need to see into my front window? we are 2 storey so theres no way the house will be completely blocked I guess I am just thinking of the front downstairs window. I realise it is personal preference more than anything but would really like to hear other peoples thoughts on this. Thanks in advance. Re: Landscaping - block view to road or make sure it is open 2Jun 12, 2012 5:05 pm I like the door to be visible from the street as I think this improves security. That stopped me hiding the windows with landscaping To avoid people looking in during the day I installed a reflective film on the windows so I can see out but they can't see in. It works well as long as you shut the curtains at night (Once its dark outside and there is an inside light on people can see in) The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! Then, plant a flowerbed at the corner to serve as a focal point of the landscape and improve the looks of the corner. Incorporate a variety of flowers, trees and shrubs of various sizes and colors. __________________________ Landscape Photography Tours I brought terry road box hill in June 2022 House was meant to be completed Nov 2023 That did not happen I had to chase them so much to the land Registration and… 0 2403 Cupcake.girl This really depends on your local council.
