Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Jun 01, 2012 2:48 pm Hey, In early April i put down some Santa Ana SOD in my back yard, but it hasn't rooted very well. Most areas are still quite easy to lift up even though we watered it and fertilized it. Now I am readying up that during colder months, Santa Ana is dorment and basically doesn't grow. Information that would have been useful to me when I was buying the crass from the supplier. Long story short, I want to know if there is anything I can do to help promote rooting? The grass is still very green and healthy looking so it's not dieing which is good I guess. But in terms of growth the leaves are still very short (20mm at best) and there is not much roots going into the ground. Thanks in advance! Re: Help promote SOD rooting 3Jun 01, 2012 5:20 pm Where are you? If vic or sa not much you can do this time of year except keep off it as much as you can, a light top dress with sand to keep in close contact with soil, and make sure its kept moist but not wet. Last is the most important. Re: Help promote SOD rooting 4Aug 18, 2012 10:20 pm What will help is to not fertilise it. Of the types you'd be likely to use, they will in actual fact retard the root growth by killing soil organisms which are actually what make plants grow. Seasol will be the best thing to use. As will be a homemade compost tea fortified with molasses. An application of zeolite will also be highly recommended. Hi there, long-time lurker but first time posting. I've bought a house 2 and a bit years ago and last year we had some major water damage on a converted pergola area… 0 7897 Yes, unless you are in a low intensity rainfall area or the area is protected from rain. Do you have access to NCC Part 2 or can you download it? I can email you a copy… 10 12458 Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 7137 |
