Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 May 17, 2012 6:51 pm I am stuck for ideas and designs. We do not have a large backyard and will be running a 400-500 retaining wall along the back fence. This will be in front of the rear retaining and fence already erected by the developer which sits approx 2.4 - 2.6 mtrs high. This fence and block retaining will be painted Taubmans Foxtail so they blend into each other and unfortunately I need to build a retaining infront which will create a 600-700 wide garden bed. I am looking to plant some feature smallish trees along this back fence in the garden bed, once finished will have uplights installed at the base of the plants. I am thinking along the lines of ornamental pears as I love the bright green leaves and the shaping of these. The only problem is I think they maybe too large as this will also run into the pool area. Does anyone have any ideas on a great plant/tree to grow along a fence with a swimming pool. I don't want a hedge and privacy is not the issue. Something more shapely and interesting as it will be seen from all areas including inside and alfresco area. Any new ideas would be appreciated.. ??
