Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 May 16, 2012 3:50 pm Hi, I plan to run Agi pipe between my footpath and fence around the house to keep water out. I came across these Drain Logs from Atlantis: http://www.enter-shop.com.au/catalogue/c2/c11/p347 Also these logs are covered with geotextile therefore I do not need to purchase them separately. Is this better than Socked Agi Pipe ? The cost of these drain logs are around $31 for 1.9m Agi pipe - 20m = $77 I am planning to connect them to a 200m X 200m Storm pit and then tap into existing storm water pipes. Any advice / feedback appreciated. I need to design them before the fence goes up so it will be easy to dig & footpath can be concreted with a fall towards these pipes. I would go the agi pipe with a pea gravel backfill. The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! It does not look good in western suburbs with slab movements and cracking. Therefore trying to keep as much water away as possible do you still think overkill? But i'm a bit of a tight a$$e. My thought is you still have to dig a 300 deep trench and you still have to backfill with stone so save yourself a couple of hundred $$$. Re: Agi Pipe Solution to keep water out - Advice needed 8May 17, 2012 9:31 am Hi Bashworth, I'm just looking at this at the moment to put in behind some besser block garden beds. When you mean you just went with aggi drains, do these still connect to the storm water or does the aggi with stone work fine for drainage? Re: Agi Pipe Solution to keep water out - Advice needed 9May 17, 2012 10:22 am You need to connect the end of the Agi pipe to the storm water or storm water pit. For a wall if you lay the pipe along the bottom and half fill the height of the wall with 20mm stone. I like to use 20mm as if you go to small the stone will block the stones will block the slots in the pipe. Re: Agi Pipe Solution to keep water out - Advice needed 11May 17, 2012 10:51 am Thanks for that, the walls are besser block and both about 3m long 1200mm deep, about 800mm (H). About a 20 degree slope. Re: Agi Pipe Solution to keep water out - Advice needed 12May 19, 2012 10:37 am Sorry for asking but how exactly do you connect the ag to the drain? Has anyone got a picture? Re: Agi Pipe Solution to keep water out - Advice needed 13May 19, 2012 10:47 am Would use the logs, have pulled many agg drains laid incorrectly which are blocked (sock is no where near as thick as material used on logs) Subsoil drainage should have its own discharge line where possible due to possibility of blockage Landscape Design & Construction http://cherub.squarespace.com/ DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair We have a hot water copper pipe that runs from our hot water unit on one side of our house under a concrete slab to our bathroom and laundry...old house so not ideal.
