I've figured out the building project scheme... give yourself ridiculous timelines at things will get done! We set ourselves for an Xmas Eve party with friends - so in 4 days we managed to finish off the deck, run the electrical, paint all the walls twice, install irrigation, waterproof the garden boxes, shovel and wheelbarrow 3.5tones of soil around the back (i have small access - this was so much fun...*enter sarcasm here*), plant plants, install lights. and of course so many little things that pop up inbetween all this.. but when the end result comes up, all of these stresses are thrown out the window.. We went from this: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ To this in 4 days: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Unfortunately the BBQ that we purchased had a damaged unit (the one to the right), so this is getting replaced which is why there's something missing there All we need to do is pretty much tidy up some of the decking boards ( just need to alter a few spots), add stackstone cladding to the underside of the bench seats and brick pier, and tidy up painting and then stain the deck and bench seats.... and install the slat screen to the left hand side.. god it just keeps adding up haha we are not finished yet oh and add some more plants and possible sun shade for the plants! my Cordyline fruticosa 'Rubra' is getting hammered by the sun. need suggestions on how to prevent these from getting so damaged! Apologies for the quality of the pictures, my partner has some much better photos taken from the iPad.. these are just mobile phone pics.. but anyway here we go, hope you enjoy! Re: Backyard Thread - Pergola Up! 87Dec 31, 2012 10:50 am 1rocky looking forward to the completed pics with the planter box what will you use as a sealer to stop water leaking with the planter boxes, we sealed all corners of the boxes inside and out around the render with a Sellys moisture sealant. Then painted all inside of the boxes with waterproof Bitumen paint. Then applied a plastic moisture wrap/barrier down all sides of the inside of the boxes.. also in all the taller separate boxes - we added approx 100/200mm blue stone gravel with a layer of geofabric across the top - and then had Ag. pipe at lowest point which are running out to the bottom corners of the boxes... Re: Backyard Thread - Pergola Up! 99Jan 08, 2013 10:58 am this adelaide weather is killing all my plants! worst timing to plant these poor things they are getting fried hard.. i always knew the cordyline fruticosa wouldnt with stand the sun too well, but this is ridiculous. im pretty sure they are going to die soon unless i do something about it.. can anyone make a suggestion to save these ? its either install small sun shades which im not overly keen on as i like the open space above.. or replace the plants with more sun tolerant plants.. even the Philodendron Xanadu are getting burnt, and they should be sun tolerant!! help!! i think option 2 is much better with easy access to the garden without having to walk through the new sunroom which makes it a better room for guests and TV .a simple… 2 8228 interesting situation what happened after builder issued final invoice? did you list as defect or not does the building surveyor have any responsibility? ie. issuing… 13 46961 Building Standards; Getting It Right!
