Hey guys
We currently have lawn (crappy couch) and a couple of garden beds out the front. The grass started leeching into the garden beds not too long after and we spent time after time pulling grass runners and weeds out of the garden bed, but they are so deep under the surface that it's just impossible to get rid of it.
Since then we've had a baby, and I've had a few periods of illness and the garden has just gone to ... poo. There's weeds galore, the grass is dead/pale in patches and the garden beds are riddled with grass and weeds.
We've wanted to get rid of the garden beds for a while because it's just another thing to maintain other than the grass, but hubby is currently toying with the idea of just paving (liquid limestone) the entire front and putting some big pots with plants around the place or something.
I don't want to because we have a little one and as he gets bigger I'd like to have grass out the front for him to play on - and I personally don't like the look of houses without any front lawn, it feels so sterile and un-homely (apologies to those who don't have front lawn, it's just how I would feel if it were our house).
Does anyone have any photos of their house/a house with no lawn out the front to maybe persuade me? Or any other ideas?
We were | | this close to getting artificial lawn at one point (I know there's quite a few fake lawn-haters on this forum so try not to jump on me too much) and had the quote and given them the go ahead, but then decided against it because it was outrageously expensive. (We went with the most expensive company because we thought they were "the best").
We will still possibly be getting artificial lawn out the back eventually (the back lawn is horrendous as well) because the little one will need somewhere to play when he's a bit bigger, but hubby is more focused on the front at the moment because it depresses us when we drive up and see it - we're close to becoming "those people" on our street, with the horrible garden that brings the whole street down, and we don't like it!
Woah... sorry for the essay guys. Any ideas or photos or whatever would be great.
