Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Mar 03, 2012 3:54 pm Hi Everybody, Just what I hope will be a short question regarding the Songs of India plants we have around our pool. The songs that look great around our pool were doing very very average until I went on a dynamic lifter, el cheapo mulch and watering frenzy for the last month or so. Now they are absolutely booming, but the branches are very sparse lower down so I'm thinking of putting in smaller ones to fill in the sparseness. As we have seriously run out of budget, I'm wondering if the songs of India would strike from cuttings of the prunings? Instead of having to buy more plants as they are hard to source and bloody expensive as well. Do I need to use rooting powder (plant hormone , not the stuff from thailand) to help them strike roots? Or do I just plunge the pruning into a pot and keep them moist? Do I need to let the cut end dry out before plunging into the pot? The songs are supposed to be slow growing plants but these are booming along now. Do we have any horticultural orientated people out there? Fu Manchu, any ideas?? Cheers Ddgy Roger Re: Songs of India. Horticultural question. 2Mar 06, 2012 10:42 am Oh well, worth a try. Still no hortibuffs on board the forum. Thanks to everyone who read my question but were unable to help. Cheers Ddgy Roger Re: Songs of India. Horticultural question. 3Mar 06, 2012 10:45 am Never heard of them ... do you have a pic? Re: Songs of India. Horticultural question. 6Mar 18, 2012 10:14 pm Thanks Mclaren. Thats the kinda thing I was looking for. It seems that I can strike them from cuttings, only problem is the missus wont let me tak any cutting just yet. Even then I have to rely on the good lady to water them. Nope wont happen. A good project for when I'm on holidays. In another 100 years or so when the mortgage is low enuff for me to be able to take holidays. Lol. Cheers Doodgy Roger You can really use anything you want the main consideration would be how it looks once painted/finished - or the look you want. Cabinetmakers use MDF because its cheap… 2 9957 I would say both styles you have pictured are steel. The lower chord of the first pic would be a massive lump if made using timber considering the size of the rafters. If… 1 6150 1 13121 |
