Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Feb 28, 2012 10:36 am Hey Fu, I'm newish to the organic, seasol/powerfeed/molasses thing. Have been using this for a few months as well as Bactivate and Saturaid recently. I laid Kikuyu and Emerald Kikuyu from seed about 16 months ago. Once established, it looked GREAT up until the limited rainfall and constant mid 30 degree days over Jan and Feb. My lawn still retained its colour and bounced back really quickly after each watering of seasol/molasses/powerfeed. My neighbours Couch, which at one stage was the best looking lawn in the street has totally yellowed off - its almost white. Man, i gotta tell ya, it has barely rained in the northern suburbs of Melbourne lately. Finally, we had 37mm of rain since yesterday and the wife reckons she's never seen me happier. I've never seen my lawn happier either. Anyway... - Back then, when we laid seed, we rotary hoed and applied common top soil AKA "lawn mix" from the local garden centre. No soil amendments whatsoever - hence the post and upcoming question. - Back then, i didn't discover this forum and had no knowledge of Zeolite, Bactivate etc etc. Now, 16 months later - i'm cursing i didn't discover this forum prior to landscaping my yard of course. Here comes my question(s). I've been reading a lot about Zeolite. Is it too late to apply Zeolite???? Will top dressing with Zeolite have a positive effect? If i only top dress, how will it get into the rootzone? If you respond by saying "yes, go ahead and top dress..", then will it be ok to top dress Zeolite along with Bactivate and a wetting agent like Saturaid all at the same time, then water it all in??? Or must i top dress Zeolite on its own? etc etc Looking forward to your response, Sir Fu. Thanks in advance. Re: Fu, need advice - lawn maintenance / Zeolite 2Feb 28, 2012 10:42 am Good question .... While you are waiting for the great Fu to reply ... I think I've seen on here that he suggested forking the lawn and then putting zeolite in the holes, that way it will get down to the soil. That's what we are planning to do ... but will wait to hear from Fu!! http://i448.photobucket.com/albums/qq209/Tejrinde/Emoticons/Bow/curtsy.gif For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!! Re: Fu, need advice - lawn maintenance / Zeolite 4Apr 23, 2012 10:02 pm You can add any type of soil improver by either coring or spiking the lawn and sweeping the product in the holes. That way it gets into the soil profile way quicker. For the first question, you dont need zeolite in your soil, its clay, it holds water well and its full of nutrients. Second you have kikuyu it doesnt care what its growing in. Re: Fu, need advice - lawn maintenance / Zeolite 6Aug 19, 2012 1:27 pm Yep, to make Kike grow, just swear at it the leaves that are now underground go yellow, the tips that poke through photosynthesise and have chlorophyll, same reason they grow rhubarb in the dark. 5 2912 Thank you so much for the effort.
