Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Feb 22, 2012 5:47 pm Hi, As part of a construction project we have built a retaining wall. We had initially planned to render and paint it because we are doing the same with the rest of the house, however my wife has found out about sandstone cladding and has her heart set on it. I am trying to do some rough budgeting to figure out how much extra it is going to cost us. The retaining wall is about 50sqm. It is comprised of 4 differently-sized sections, the tallest being about 3m. It is built using standard concrete blocks (roughly 400mmx180mm). It is 100% vertical. We have selected the cladding we like, cost is around $160 per sqm (Retail). We also need to consider capping and corners, but that is a discussion for another day. What I am after is a rough guide of the costs for the installation of the main cladding described above, including any prep work, grouting etc. Any other information would also be appreciated. Thanks Re: Retaining Wall - Render+Paint vs Sandstone Cladding 2Feb 23, 2012 5:11 am What size is the cladding, is it real stone? According to the brochure: "Split face veneer split on 5 siders and sawn on the back. Randon square an parallelogram shaped stone pieces up to 300x300mm. Thickness 20-40mm" Addtionally: "Typically these products are adhered to a concrete or block wall with a suitable tile adhesive."
