This is because the nursery industry works very hard to maintain standards of plant hygiene and pest control. This is needed to stop disease spreading, the spread of unwanted pests such as green snail and as well as weeds of national significance. I will only ever buy plants from a certified nursery that is part of the nursery industry association, meaning these things are not an issue. If they aren't certified then I will have a good knowledge of that nurseries practices and standards.
