Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Feb 08, 2012 10:04 am Hi All, Im going to do my own retaining wall and have come across concrete sleepers. They are around 3 times more expensive than pine. Would it be worth it? I gues you would never have to replace them? Please let me know your thoughts/ opinions because it is quite a lot more money and I want to know if it will be well spent. Thanks! Re: Concrete Sleepers or Treated Pine? 2Feb 09, 2012 10:49 am Have you thought about how you will lift them? Concrete will last longer but cost shouldn't be 3 times IMO and they are pretty heavy so a well thought out process or access to a machine to lift them is a must. Oh thats true, I did hope to have everything ready so when thy deliver them we can just position them in. I have been thinking and I really can't afford them at the moment a $3,000 wall isn't viable, whereas I can get all materials for under $1,000 by working with treated pine. I just didnt know if anyone else had done it or thought about doing it.
