Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Feb 02, 2012 7:14 pm Pretty self-explanatary post. We've recently moved into our new home and are attending to the outside of the house now. I can't afford to lay turf down to cover our entire backyard 17x13.5 metres so am planning to grow from seed. Not going to grass the entire backyard as also planning to lay two vegetable beds, a mulched, hard surface area for kids playground equipment and a hills hoist. Does anyone have any bright ideas of how to manage topsoil and grass seeds with two labradors? I thought about putting up a wire fence around the perimeter of the grassed area, but thought I'd ask here in case someone else in a similar situation has some clever ideas. Thanks. Re: How to grow a lawn from seed in backyard with two dogs 2Feb 03, 2012 8:36 am I'd try some temporary fencing. Its tall enough to keep dogs out, easy to adjust the lengths to suit by overlapping the panels and when you want to get in to the area you can just swing open a 2m+ panel and you're in. Concrete blocks hold them in place and are sturdy enough. You can add star pickets and fencing wire to give more stability if you think you need it. Most are ryes and fescues which are going to need so much water in summer to stay green. Big fail for resources and you wallet. You'll be best advised to buy a few rolls of turf, cut them up and plant out. Dogs will not be able to even sniff that area till its established no matter what you choose.
