I've got some Magnolia Little Gems planted in a row. They're doing pretty well - a couple have dropped quite a few leaves, nothing too dramatic but I was wondering - should I just let the leaves rot down into the soil or should I clean them up?
I also have another question - we have a small garden bed (1m x 4m) that faces directly west and is adjacent to a rendered wall, some windows and a tiled courtyard. It gets extremely hot. We have planted a few things there but not much luck. I'm thinking of ripping it all out and planting natives/succulents?
I'd like a few different things, not really a mass planting. Was thinking Kangaroo paw, and maybe something strappy. Don't like cordylines much. I'd really like a cottagey type effect but with natives or something extremely hardy. Heights up to 1m or so would be fine.
Any thoughts or examples greatly appreciated! Space described is shown below.
