Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Jan 22, 2012 8:35 pm So, I'm following Fu guide for laying turf... planning to lay SW buffalo. (VIC) So far what was done: 1- Killing old grass and weeds. 2- Cultivation 3- Mixing gypsium, seasol, blood and bone and some molasses. What is yet to be done, adding cow manure and then lay turf.. My problem is the soil... LOTS small rocks and some rocks which seems to be concrete (from construction...) Some photos here... any idea what can done here.. ? This is after 2 weekends of cleaning http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/3/imag0104kf.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/707/imag0101y.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/7/imag0102ci.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/804/imag0103x.jpg/ Thanks! Re: What's with that soil...! 2Jan 23, 2012 6:24 pm Just get rid of the large rocks/concrete and leave the small pieces in the soil. Anything bigger than approx 4-5 cm chuck it out. And work the stones through the soil dont just leave them clumped or sitting on top excessively. Also compost will do more for your dollars and effort than cow manure. By all means use manure but use it at a ratio of 1:4 compost for best results. Just leaches away from the root zone and out to sea via rivers. I am not sure whether Perth has its own way of doing things in regards to this. Most of Perth has class A (sandy soil), except for some areas near rivers or hills. 2 13111 We were lucky in that our old house was so small (86 square metres) compared to the new house, they were able to take enough readings around the old backyard house before… 8 37160 DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair I'm in WA and our sandy soils make drainage a bit easier but this is what I'd be doing. Dig down to your footings and let the wall dry out. Clean it all well by brushing… 1 5197 |
