Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Jan 08, 2012 7:35 pm Hello all, I have been looking to try and do my own retaining wall but the only bit I don't understand is how the agg pipe works? Do I have to connect it to a drain pipe from the house? How does the water get in there to drain away? There are retaining wall how to's out there but they all just mention laying the agg pipe but doing nothing after that. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you Re: Confused - How does Aggregate piping work? 2Jan 08, 2012 8:54 pm Probably the simplest thing to do is let it discharge at the bottom of the wall either onto the garden or paving where it will get to a drain. Re: Confused - How does Aggregate piping work? 4Jan 09, 2012 8:20 am My other half is a plumber, he can come and quote on an agg drain, he did ours, and we've never had any flooding, or any water issues. Even Christmas day with all the storms, we didn't have any water on the ground in our backyard. The agg drain goes inside the retaining wall, and is covered with crushed rock. The water will soak into the pipe. The pipe is then run on an angle towards a pit or storm water drain, which the plumber will connect it to. Message me if you're interested in getting a quote?
