Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Dec 23, 2011 5:07 pm Hey guys , What would you do with this space? Top retaining wall was excavated out with drainage put in and top soil at 500mm deep prior to fences going up, there's 600mm between fences and wall. I don't want the plants higher then fences height . Lower wall needs to be filled with soil and is 200mm wide. I want to fill it with colour that's low maintenance and drought tolerant. I will water it maybe once a week Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I have prepped the back yard for turf. With ag drains under to take away excess water in winter, And will be putting in a sprinkler system for summer. Its 16 x 6m . Im going to be laying kikuyu in the coming weeks. I have 2 border collies so need the fast repair of the kikuyu. Id like to put 2 or 3 larger trees spaced out in the area . Suggestions please? Nothing like it anywhere else: http://www.watercorporation.com.au/W/wa ... -2997-2837 Re: Pick some plants for me =) 3May 28, 2012 10:58 pm To establish any plant, even a drought tolerant one, you will need to water every day for a few weeks. And it will take quite a long time before you can water once a week in summer and not have them die on you... this is because it takes time for plants to put down deep enough roots. Even during a wet winter, when water is readily available to them they don't have to go deeper...so they can still struggle over summer and die. Deep roots are the difference between surviving or thriving. If you want really tough and low maintenance and not higher than the fence, consider rosemary bushes. You can make it into a hedge, it's very drought tolerant , its little blue flowers are not spectacular but at least it has them.... and you can use it for your roasts....!!! How large are we talking for the trees when mature? You may still have a case, but your next step is to speak to a lawyer. 3 803 Murraya could be a great option for you. It creates a great tall screening hedge but doesn't drop fruit like lily pilly. The flowers smell divine. 2 7962 6 7972 |
