Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Dec 12, 2011 10:24 am Hey all. I need some advise in regards to doing my landscaping out the back. Currently the back yard has a 20cm odd rise from my back door to the rear fence which is 7.5m back and the whole block is 14m across. The earth is pretty much clay and there is terrible drainage. To make things worse, the property next to me is a bit higher up so during rain water drains from their place into mine. I currently have a swimming pool on one side of the house. So, things I want to do are: - Level out the terrain, - Put up a 300mm retaining wall 500mm from the fence around all 3 sides and - Put AG pipes in. - Put in a basic watering system. But I have no idea what I should start with first. I was thinking of doing the retaining wall first, then leveling and then doing the AG and sprinklers. That way as I'm doing the leveling I can dump the excess dirt aka clay to fill the area behind the retaining wall. I'm more than capable of doing each of the above tasks by themselves, but I don't know which order to do it in. Thoughts? Re: Landscaping Questions - Where to start 2Dec 12, 2011 10:43 am I would be doing it the same order as you, but getting some organic material to mix in with the clay you put behind the retaining wall. That way you will get a better soil structure for whatever you grow in the beds. i would also be putting some ag drains at the bottom of the retaining wall. The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! What material(s) are you planning to use for the walls? What material(s) are you planning to use for the walls? Yeah, I was thinking the same of getting the rear done and then sorting out the sides to match. I am planning on using 200x50x2400 treated pine sleepers for the wall. So everyone agree's that the AG pipes should go in after wall and laveling then? So everyone agree's that the AG pipes should go in after wall and laveling then? PLease use minimum 75 thick sleeper and 100mm will be even better. As for agi pipe dig out soil, dig post holes and set posts, leave for concrete to set drop first sleeper in the length of wall, lay 100mm deep of aggregate behind wall and create fall to drain site, lay agi on top aggregate, put in rest of sleepers, back fill with aggregate then soil Hmmm, I have checked your past posts and it seems that you are in NSW, not WA as I had thought.
