If I were to, even here in WA, go to a common soil place and get some of these verbatim soils "for turf" I'd end up with a difficult, expensive lawn that is a sure bet to give the owners a head ache for ever more as they enter the merry go round of poor advice and a never ending array of contradicting info from outdated lawn care. I source my soils from places that are not local but offer a far higher grade of compost. We have around 5 through the metro area that are independant and can supply high quality rather than easy to get low grade composts and soils. You will all notice one common them in my advice for prepping turf. I have never mentioned a fertiliser or "lawn starter" type product. For good reason. So to answer your question I'd be looking at non lawn "products". Then you will start getting somewhere. An orgainic compost is what you neend with no mention of the word $ turf $ in it. Containing organic matter, it also helps to absorb moisture in both the morning and evening periods, providing grass areas with essential moisture for optimal growth. Keen to hear your thoughts. Re: Confused about Turf Underlay vs. Top Dressing 24Mar 14, 2019 7:19 pm It's described as top dressing? Standard turf underlay is fine. Your better off with a sand/loan mix as organic mixes will compress and collapse leaving your levels lower than expected. Your friend here is water and that's it for at least 12 months and thereafter powerfeed and molasses for building soil/nutrition Hi l plan to install a self adhesive vinyl plank floor. l first need to attach masonite boards underlay to by plywood subfloor of my house.
