Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Dec 03, 2011 10:43 pm We built a low retaining wall to change the landscape at the back. Most bricks line up pretty good, but being non-professional brick layers, we didn't fill the mortar all the way to the edge at time of laying the bricks. Now there are gaps everywhere. I was wondering what's a quick way to fill the gaps? Or any special techniques? The wall is about 10m x 1m, so there're quite a bit of gaps to fill. Re: Finishing a brick wall 3Dec 06, 2011 11:21 am Thanks for the idea! After you brought up the bag idea, I googled for it and something came up straightaway: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I have been to Bunnings and building supplies, everyone can "imagine" what I was talking about but no one actually sells the bag. Some guy suggested just roll up a plastic bag and then cut a hole at the end. But seeing that I have quite a bit of gaps to fill, I rather buy a "proper tool" made for this propose and hopefully can make the job a bit easier and quicker. Have you seen a "mortar bag" in store somewhere? Re: Finishing a brick wall 4Dec 06, 2011 3:02 pm Have you thought about using a cooking one? It looks like that is what they were using. http://www.kitchenwaredirect.com.au/Bak ... y-Bag-60cm Can probably pick them up at most supermarkets too, but the one I linked to is a nice big one. Cheers Building Standards; Getting It Right! Don't think they are designed for double brick. WA has a particular way of building and unfortunately that's the way a large amount of sills are finished. 3 7014 can’t tell from the photo, a tie down rod will be 12mm, is it a steel beam? he should be able to work it out 1 4470 Thank you alexp79 and gommeqld for your advice, that's very helpful, thanks 3 7944 |
