Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Nov 26, 2011 10:32 pm This is a little hard to explain but I'll give it a go.... I had a landscaper come up with an idea in my backyard to cover a standstone wall up.... He built a Besser Block wall in front of the solid sandstone wall and covered it in stack stone. There is a gap of about 20-30cm between the besser block wall and the sandstone. They put some aggy pipe in which is piped to the stormwater and filled it with pebbles and sand etc, but it doesn't really perform that well. When it rains really bad, the water is either soaking through and coming up under the wall or its seeping through the wall (wasn't water proofed too well). Anyway what I want too do is build a little barrier along the top of the sandstone wall so that the water doesn't run from the backyard into this gap area. (sort of like a gutter that is used on roads) so the water will hit this gutter then run along and go a different direction. What I wanted to know is if anyone had any ideas how I can build this... I haven't done anything like this before.... the standstone is a little uneven but I would like to try and make the gutter a level height. I'm wondering if I should try to buy some old bricks and run a line of bricks along (might have to put more motar under some of them to make the top level) Then I could cover the bricks in a layor of concrete (kind of like rendering it).... again I've never done this before its all in my head, don't know if this is the easiest way to go about this... It will be about 6 metres long. The besser block wall that is in front of all this is higher and covered in stackstone so this little thing I want to contruct won't be able to be seen.. Only need it to be about 10cm high.... Any tips for the concrete.... mixtures etc? I've got some lime which I read a while ago should be used when concreting sandstone to help it stick.... Hope this all makes sense... I welcome any other suggestions. Thanks Re: How to build a water barrier along the top of a rock 2Nov 27, 2011 7:57 am Look at something like http://www.bondall.com/bondcrete/hydrocrete.html or one of the other products to add to the concrete mix. Firstly the ableflex that has been installed needs (manufactures specification) a sealant cap over the top, preventing water draining down between the slab and the… 3 7978 Hi, I had a barrier reef pool installed less that 2 years ago and the gel coat is already fading. The colour is electric grey shimmer which isn’t available… 0 3952 I’m not a structural engineer but I’m free. you still need an engineer for the plans. I only have part of your plans, but you seem to have a 850mm drop from the side… 3 10088 |
