We're planning on creating a narrow dry river bed between the driveway and fence. We have a downpipe on the front of the garage, and there is no way we can get a soakwell in that area due to the underground pipes, so we've put a grate in, connected a bit of ag pipe to run underground (about 1m long), which will spurt out into the river bed. We've priced up some South West river stones for the base of the bed, with randomly placed larger river pebbles amongst it.
We've installed all of our own soakwells and have had to dodge pvc waste pipes everywhere; they're approximately 30-40cm underground. This area has ALL the services running up there, as far as we know, including waste, water, gas, phone, power, etc etc. Are Kangaroo Paws ok too plant there, or are their root systems to invasive?
I've uploaded a pic of where the bed will run (DP dug a trench for it this morning, but it won't be that deep!). I would like to plant a clump of pink joeys or similar small/dwarf roo paws where the pink and purple circles are. Not sure what to put around the 'creek' where i've put the yellow markings, but something small, and preferably a bit bushy rather than spiky.
Opinions, please?
