Over the past year or so i've been rebuilding much of our lawn which was largely neglected before we moved in. I followed a lot of the advice here, seasol, powerfeed, molasses, seamungus, and planted Emerald Kikuyu seed from Munns (which was recommended as the best seed variety to use).
Everything was going really well, but over the last few weeks it's been getting worse and worse. There are large dead patches across the lawn, and the kikuyu seems to be thinning out in many places as well.
A couple of possibilities I can think of:
1. We have a large male dog, but he was never a problem earlier in the year.
2. We've had excessive rain here in Melbourne for the last few weeks and months, could it be from too much water?
3. Is it possible some of the lawn is winter grass that is dying out?
4. Lawn grub, and if so, any organic treatment recommended?
I should also note that the areas that die off completely disappear and leave the bare soil, it doesn't just brown out. And it seems like the Kikuyu doesn't want to fill in these spots very quickly at all.
I've uploaded some pics to hopefully show you the issue.
