Empire zoysia i'n Sa ?

Howdy all,

I'm aware of the good feedback empire zoysia gets i'n eastern states and i'n WA, but I rang a place here i'n Adelaide to get some for my new place (140m for the rear, facing south and 80 meters for the front) and he didn't recommend it, mentioned that Adelaide gets too cold overnight.... I used to have sir Walter at our old place, but I think it will be too hard picking up not-so solid doggy poops that happen from time to time... I'm sure you dog owners know what I mean.....so I'm thinking about going for wintergreen instead or maybe kikyu....

Sorry about the rambling, but has anyone used empire zoysia i'n Sa ???

For what its worth i have in melb, and it grows down here fine for about 7 months of the year. And the turf guy isnt fibbing fully, it cant handle the cold nights from May to sept when it stops growing fullstop, where your dog will destroy it. Overall ez preforms just like couch except slower growing and less invasive, it would probably grow slightly better since your climate is slightly warmer. I would go kikuyu it grows year round and hence will wear better, you just have to control its spread.

You might want to look into Palmetto turf, I will be using it for my next lawn. Kikuyu grows way too fast for my liking.
