Hi all
We are in WA and have a west facing frontage. The main bedroom is at the front of the house and it includes a large (approx 2.5m wide) west facing window, and 2 smaller windows on either side. Out the front we have a garden bed with roses against the house, and grass (EZ with Fu's preparation advice btw) from that point to the road. Needless to say it gets quite hot during summer in the late afternoon. We have recently been looking at options to keep the heat out during summer, including tinting and trees.
We have been looking at getting a deciduous tree to provide shade during summer but let the sun in in winter.
The tree will probably be 3-4m from the front of the house, and it would need to be quite hardy as it will receive full afternoon WA sun. Can anyone provide any suggestions for an appropriate tree for this purpose?
Initially we were looking at flowering plums, but I am not sure how much shade these would provide?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
