Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Oct 09, 2011 10:27 am Hi We're establishing a new garden from nothing having built our house 18 months ago. We already have photinia robusta along two fencelines to give privacy. And Magnolia Little Gems, box hedge, an ornamental pears, tall, thin conifers, California Lillac, dianella tasmanica, agapanthas... Now we're looking to add some "wow" plants that have beautiful foliage or flowers. We like primary colours so nothing too pink/purple. And nothing variegated or with lime or light coloured leaves. Aiming for a "formal-country inspired" garden but not cottagey. But now we're having a bit of trouble finding larger shrubs or trees that won't drop their leaves in winter. Privacy at the front of our house is something to consider so we're looking for shrubs or trees that can grow 2+ metres high. The only thing we can find it a Butterfly Bush (buddleja) but not even sure about that? Fussy or what?! But wanting to get some planting done before the summer sets in. Thanks in advance!
