Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design Re: What to use to protect cut ends of TP 4Oct 05, 2011 3:19 pm eyspy I am no expert, but I thought the process of treating the pone was to immerse the timber in the treatment solution ? In which case the treatment should be all the way through the timber and therefore not needing treatment on the cut ends ? I will stand corrected if someone is any wiser ... Immersed yes, even pressure treated, but the treatment act like an envelope. It doesn't get very far into the timber and thus all cuts require re treating for the treatment to remain effective. Obviously if the lengths of timber you are getting are as treated then you don't need to re treat them, but I know a lot of places will just cut down lengths if they are short and not re treat them, better to be safe than sorry IMO. PM me your email. I have a build excavation calculator you can use based on your plans to double check what your builder is telling you.
