Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Feb 03, 2008 2:17 pm Hello all.....
We have provisionally signed our builder and I have drawn out the house onto our block. We are now looking at what we can do with the gardens etc, so if there are any landscapers out there - please feel free to take a look and PM us a quote. Or, if there are any budding designers that fancy getting their colouring pencils out, then please feel free to post some ideas to give us some inspiration. If you are a landscape company, then the brief and criteria is:- 1 - Basic quote - ignore the sides and rear garden and just quote for half share fence to 3 sides, an exposed aggregate drive and path to the front, a small double wall along the front, rendered with architectural planting, gate to the right side of the front of the house to restrict access form the front and either coloured pebble beds, fake grass or bark beds in the middle ( or all aggregate? ). Suggestions welcome. 2 - An intermediate quote - front as above, ignore both sides as behind the garage will be water tank storage and we'll probably make a veggie garden down the side, but suggestions for the rear would be greatly received. We'd like something to give height and privacy from the rear, like a pagoda with a large raised deck, decking to the rear of the house, ( from the kitchen and family doors ). Some planting beds would be nice, and small grass or fake grass area. Again, open to suggestions. A lean-to roof, bamboo or similar, over the deck off the family room would be good. 3 - The full option would be as above no. 1 for the front, with a pool to the rear. Likely an above ground 4.3x2.5m swim spa on a 150 concrete slab, with large raised deck to the back and sides of the spa, and a pagoda behind to give privacy from the rear. Plenty of decking again and things to give height to the garden. Again, suggestions welcome as we have a blank canvas to go on. Thanks in advance, and if there are landscape companies interested in quoting and you want more details or our budget ideas then please PM me and I'll give you my number. For information - the block is in Berwick. Thanks for looking, we're looking forward to seeing some designs. http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg152/besterfield/plantony.jpg Re: Calling all landscapers......what can you do with this? 2Feb 03, 2008 2:27 pm I had, but was just in the middle of reposting it on photobucket as the first one I uploaded had my phone number on.
You should be able to see it now though? Re: Calling all landscapers......what can you do with this? 3Feb 03, 2008 2:29 pm That's weird - where did the post go that I was responding to above?
Never mind. That's going to look weird to anyone reading the second post now. Beleive me, it did make sense 2 minutes ago. Re: Calling all landscapers......what can you do with this? 4Feb 03, 2008 2:46 pm hi Tony and Emma
when does the construction process start? When quoting landscapes it is easier to cost out the landscape when the house is several months prior to completion on an in depth design , being able to inspect the site to determine excavation, final designs etc or before construction I can estimate of plan for a very basic design ie driveways, decking etc or if you prefer i can at a set dollar rate draw up an in depth design with an obligation free estimation The path you take also depends on your budget anything under $20,000 generally only needs an out of scale sketch which would be complimentary with a estimation regards Troy Danns Da Vinci Outdoor Living Architectural landscaping http://www.davincioutdoor.com Re: Calling all landscapers......what can you do with this? 5Feb 03, 2008 2:50 pm Hi Tony, just a quick question, have you considered building your garage on the boundary line???? It seems like a waste of space on that side which will not get any use.... Just a thought??? The site isnt cleared yet, in fact there is still an old house partially on it. The block itself will be almost dead level once prepared, there is barely any fall on it. So, it will be a blank canvas completely for landscaping. I think some simple plans would be fine for now, just to see what we can expect to do with the place. I'll PM you some budget details. Thanks, Tony. It seems like a waste of space on that side which will not get any use.... Just a thought??? Hi Phoenix, Yes - we will put the garage right up to the boundary. I set it back a little when I roughed out the sketch as I couldnt remember if you could go right hard up against your boundary. That will give us an extra 500mm of garden. Cheers. Tony, there is no problems with having your garage on the boundary in The Chase. There are also a few options to enable the garage to sit on the boundary. You can have different gutter configurations to allow either the gutter itself to be "on" the boundary (but that gives your neighbour about 4" of your land - pretty negligable) or consider a "box style" or inset gutter which will enable your actual brickwork to sit on the boundary... Burbank should be able to go through the options with you....better to use the extra 500mm or so than just have it wasted i say?? Re: Calling all landscapers......what can you do with this? 11Feb 04, 2008 8:46 pm Too right - We'll definitly go as close to the boundary as we possibly can, no sense wasting precious land. That would get us an extra few inches on the veggie patch on the other side! If you organise it yourself make you get any prelays done under the concrete before you start. It's often handy to put in a couple of 90mm sleeves across your driveway so… 2 35347 A question. Im in Queensland and building a new home.
