Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Sep 20, 2011 9:00 am Hi All, I was hoping for some advice here. On 1 side of my house, there is a lot of bird poop which falls onto my concrete.. the reason for this is because all the birds sit on the colourbond fence and poop. Is there a way to prevent this or discourage these birds from standing on the fence? Its such a pain to have to hose it down nearly every week Re: Bird Poop on my concrete 2Sep 20, 2011 9:09 am Building with Jandson Homes - Eclipse 18. http://adgnetworks.blogspot.com/ Re: Bird Poop on my concrete 3Sep 20, 2011 9:54 am Another thing you could try and determine the root cause for the birds standing on the fence - perhaps there is food generally placed in the vicinity ? IMHO It is usually more effective to attack the root cause than the symptoms.... Suburbia is where the developer bulldozes out the trees, then names the streets after them. Re: Bird Poop on my concrete 5Sep 20, 2011 12:08 pm Just run a line across the top of the fence. Also go to your local garden centre and buy a plastic owl. They won't be back. Re: Bird Poop on my concrete 7Sep 20, 2011 5:12 pm In sri lanka they glue broken glass slivers along the top of fences to keep intruder out. a piece of barbed wire can do the same. I have used black peppercorns on a concrete windowsill. Try landing on a rolling runway. It was very effective and organically OK Bird Poop on my concrete 8Sep 20, 2011 6:00 pm Fishing line is fine. The plastic owl would be the first choice. As silly as it sounds, a plastic version of one of the most formidable birds of prey is highly effective. Many cafes with bird probs etc string fishing line above seating areas. Won't hurt them, will stop them sitting there. Imagine having the glass and seeing two little birdy legs on the ground. Or fingers with no owner! Job done. or finding the plastic owl sitting there with feathers sticking out of it's beak!!! Whoaa. To my understanding early saw cuts are to control shrinkage cracks, so doing them now would be pointless. Control joints may reduce ugly cracking during periods of soil… 3 9858 Hi all I need a guidance on how far I need to space expansion joints in the concrete driveway and its type (keyway/foam.) Contraction joints are at 3m max for a 125 slab. Thanks 0 10939 |
