Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Sep 19, 2011 10:22 am Hi.. can anyone please recommend what i should do to get rid of the lines in between the rolls of grass? i have had the grass layed for about 8 months now.. but hte lines are still visible? also.. what can i do to smooth out the grass? its a little hilly/bumpy in some areas ??? Re: Sir walter buffalo advice 2Sep 28, 2011 9:25 am I would assume the turf wasn't lay close enough , if you can get hold of sir walter buffalo seed then you can try to seed the visible line but i haven't really seen any of them off the shelf. other than that you could try to give your turf a bit of booster so they grow / crawl over the visible line. lawn the grass less often, grass clipping could be a booster for your lawn too. only time will tell. Re: Sir walter buffalo advice 3Sep 28, 2011 6:56 pm Same thing happened to me when i laid my EZ lawn. Even though i made sure they where tight up against each other. Im assuming its just shrinkage when the rolls are initially drying out and gaining their legs. Im not fussed at all. Leave it and it will grow. On one patch i put down some Naked Farmer to fill the gap. Cant hurt. There are plenty of turf threads where Fu has covered this topic. I wouldnt seed... But meh... each to there own. Re: Sir walter buffalo advice 4Sep 28, 2011 7:06 pm What you need to do is feel in the lines between the lines with top soil to encourage the grass to grow over. With plenty of water this should do the trick. I have only had mine in since the weekend and from far you cant see the lines. Re: Sir walter buffalo advice 5Nov 08, 2011 11:08 pm Rather than using "topsoil" you'd be far better off topdressing the entire lawn with a compost. Please don't pump water into lawns. They will only then grow weak and get problems. Lawns need to be pushed and worked for water so they send roots deeper. We treat lawns too much like precious treasures where as what they really are is a busted up old car that never stops even if it breaks down every now and then, it gets going when it wants to. You would be hard pressed to ever kill a lawn and that goes way past what many homeowners call "dead" Re: Sir walter buffalo advice 6Nov 09, 2011 10:02 am Hi Fu, When i called up ANL to source 100% certified organic compost... they kept saying... i need to get a topdress... and they said its not 100% certified compost.. its more of Australian certified. Would you know what type of product i need from this link? http://anlscape.com.au/Products/compost ... nditioners Re: Sir walter buffalo advice 8Nov 10, 2011 8:03 pm Ok I'm going to buy about a tonne this weekend. My grass has been seeding for about 2.5 months now. It's fairly ugly and the seeds shoot up pretty high. I was planning on mowing the lawn short to get rid of them for a few days. When should I top dress the lawn with the compost? After or before a mow? Should the grass be long or short and also should I completely cover the grasss or should there be a little sticking out? Re: Sir walter buffalo advice 9Nov 10, 2011 8:49 pm Do it before but if you can core the area after that. Rake off the area. Apply zeolite at about 2kg per m2 and if you can some of this before hand as well... MycoApply Endo http://www.maiaustralia.com.au/index.ph ... Itemid=106 and then the compost. You only need a layer thin enough so the leaves are coming through well in the higher spots. You'll be best to have a really wide plastic rake or bodge up a soil spreader using some timber. It will need a nice rake every week as it starts coming through. It will be theraputic A fair bit of work yes but like all the info I give you guys to use and share, it ultimately is going to result in very long periods of things just looking after themselves. That is what its all about. Get it right at the start and things just work. Sir walter buffalo advice 12Nov 11, 2011 8:14 am They absolutely have it except they'd not know. Go to the pool isle. It's sold as a sand filter replacement product. It's a pinky orange gravel. The one near mine sells it as zeochlor. My mate found it. What a score that was. He says it's something they have to have. Re: Sir walter buffalo advice 13Nov 11, 2011 1:43 pm Do you think this product will be ok? i was told its $16 for a 15kg bag http://www.autopool.com.au/documents/ze ... ochure.pdf Sir walter buffalo advice 14Nov 11, 2011 3:00 pm That's the stuff Also mountain zeolite is another place. Versaloc is a mortarless besser block system that still needs a properly engineered footing. If you just do a 400x200 footing it will fail in time.
