Reccomend me a reasonably priced nursery in Melbourne

We need to plant out the front garden. Can anyone reccomend a nursery in Melbourne. SE or NW suburbs please

Hi Penny,

SE or NW suburbs is still pretty broad so i'll give you a couple of my favourites (which are pretty wide ranging when I think about it).

1. Pinewood Nursery - Blackburn Road (just off freeway exit)

2. Wholesale direct nursery - Western Port Highway (about 5 minutes past Thompsons Road intersection). They have only just opened .. went in there the other day and their plants are at a great price and really good quality.

3. Pot World - Springvale Rd (can't remember suburb, I think it's Keysborough or something like that). Next to Pot World (which is awesome mind you) there is a nursery/tank place which also has great plants but I have found the nursery at the back of Pot World a bit cheaper than next door

3. Flower Power - Warrigal Rd, Chadstone - good prices but sometimes you have to watch the quality

There is also Chris & Marie's down Frankston-Dandenong Road near Carrum Downs - I think it is still there.

And the other one down Springvale Road in Keysborough or Braeside that we have a look at a lot is Gardenworld.

Another one - I found this extremely competitive price wise and their range was also good.

if you have an abn number register at plantmark cranbourne massive range reasonable price but as i said you need an abn number to register to gain entry it is a trade only nursery
6 inch pots start at $3 dollars each
15 ltr magnolias 3 foot high under $20 ea etc

try www.gardenexpress.com.au
they are in the Dandenongs close to Sherbrooke picnic ground.. u can also check prices out and plant info on their website. Great value for bulbs, bulk purchases.. eg Bird of paradise is for about $ 5 which is great value.. that none of the metropolitan nurseries can match

The one out on westernport rd has closed down, it's changed hands a few times over the years too. Looks like it will be Chris and Marie's place for us. Plus we have some Bunnings vouchers so we'll grab a few things from there too.

I wish we still lived on the GC as we used to buy all our palms and plants from Carrara Markets. Large palms were only $15 each ::hyst::

Second that to Sertels in Doreen, roughly the same prices as everywhere else except you get a much bigger plant for the price. Bit of a drive, no delivery, so stock up when you head out.

Good to know, wouldn't delivery closer to Melb when i was last out there 6 months ago.

Price wise as an example, last time i picked up some camiella's about 3 ft high for $7.50 each, iceberg bush roses bare rooted $4.50 each.
