Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Jan 30, 2008 10:23 pm Hi,
I am not sure if anyone can help me but here goes. I have to demolish an external single brick wall which has had its day. I will also be excavating beside the wall approx 1 meter down, 4.5 meters across and 7 meters long. There is a layer of concrete (no thicker than 100mm) on top as it used to be a carport at the top of the drive way. I am replacing the existing wall, which was the side of the carport, with an engineered concrete core filled block wall. As the wall is free standing, it will have a 1.7mtre lip which will be 259mm thick and a 500mm footing. The wall will be on the boundary (however it is my wall) and my neighbours drive way abuts the wall which will sit approx 500mm higher then the land on my site (the neighbour's land represents the natural land level). There is a fall of 600mm from one end of the wall to the other on my neighbour's side so approx 500mm of the wall will act as a retaining wall. The wall on my side will be approx 2.95 meters high. Steel rods will run through and across the wall as engineered. I need a block wall builder who can demolish the existing wall (which is not a big job), excavate and build the block wall. I am located in the Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne and any suggestions will be greatly appreciated especially where you have used the builder and are pleased with the workmanship. Thanks, Re: Excavation and Block Wall Construction 4Jan 31, 2008 4:58 pm Unfortunately Davinci cannot help.
So can any one out there recommend a builder they know. I would prefer to go with someone that has been tried and tested rather than take a stab in the yellow pages. Any assistance would be appreciated. Cheers, Theborg Resistance is Futile! Hmmm, I have checked your past posts and it seems that you are in NSW, not WA as I had thought.
