Re: Empire Zoysia - Melbourne stockists? 4Aug 30, 2011 11:20 am Will be avaliable oct-may, but I wouldn't lay any later than late march/april in Melb unless you won't be walking on it for months. I also wouldn't choose EZ that will be subject to high traffic in winter as it wears badly in the cold eg. the path to the clothes line, where you step off paths/pavers. Re: Empire Zoysia - Melbourne stockists? 5Aug 30, 2011 1:39 pm Thank you! Im thinking me putting it on our nature strip and a small part of our backyard for our daughter to play on in the warmer months, so it shouldnt get a lot of traffic at all during winter. Re: Empire Zoysia - Melbourne stockists? 9Sep 04, 2011 8:00 pm Sorry to go off topic, I live in Gisborne Victoria and get severe frosts in winter is EZ still a good choice for these conditions? Re: Empire Zoysia - Melbourne stockists? 10Sep 04, 2011 8:31 pm
Sorry to go off topic, I live in Gisborne Victoria and get severe frosts in winter is EZ still a good choice for these conditions?
It will perform roughly the same as couch grass does in winter eg. dormant/brown. A past supplier of EZ grew it in NE vic where it gets to -4C and its fine. As i said its only issue is its very poor winter wear so when it breaks dormancy (eg now) it takes longer than all the other common turf to repair itself, because its slow natural growth rate. So if you dont have kids/dogs/cars thrashing it all winter it will be fine. Re: Empire Zoysia - Melbourne stockists? 11Sep 05, 2011 10:12 am After reading many of the posts on here, I have decided to take the plunge and get the EZ. I live in Melbourne and will be setting the EZ in my front garden. Its only around 30 sq mtr's. I spent all weekend ripping up the old lawn. I have Kikuyu at the moment which has been a complete nightmare. It was everywhere and out of control and I have spent many hours each weekend tangling with its ropes and I had finally had enough. I poisoned the whole lot about 2 weeks ago and this weekend I went through it all taking out all the roots etc. As per advice on here I went down to a around 25/30 cm. I'm sure it will come back though but hoping I can manage it better. I will probably give it another dose of poison and when rake it all out. I'll give it another couple of weeks before I start treating the soil as per FU's instructions and then finally lay the new turf. Does this all sound ok guys? I'll let you all know how I get on and also try and upload some pics. The Empire Strikes Back! I do enjoy the drama:-D In his latest two videos he has started bringing security guards to site, I am waiting for the punch on to begin lol 6 45554 It's all about wireless, self install now.
