Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Aug 28, 2011 6:22 pm I am wanting to create an Indian inspired back garden, I have only a small area - most of which is taken up by an alfresco. I have a 10 x 3.5m garden and the alfresco takes up some of it already. Does anyone have any design ideas to maximise space or certain plants to use? I was thinking perhaps a frangipani tree (even though this is more balinese then indian) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I am after a relaxing feel and lots of colour is important to me. I was originally thinking of doing a native garden but I just dont really like the feel of them - they don't look relaxing to me but rather make me feel like I am roughing it in the bush. But I wouldn't mind incorporating some in if thats possible. Appreciate any ideas! Thank you Re: Indian Inspired Alfresco and Garden 2Aug 29, 2011 4:09 pm Im thinking central fountain and also a shallow rectangular pool with water plants and reeds. some tropical water lilies. hibiscus trees on boundries, maybe lantana, although roots could be a problem Re: Indian Inspired Alfresco and Garden 4Aug 31, 2011 3:53 pm You could certainly achieve a colourful look with natives, if you choose carefully. A bit of research before making any decisions on plants can save on costly mistakes. Check out websites, gardening magazines and books for ideas.
