Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Aug 07, 2011 1:08 pm Can I please have some pictures/ideas/designs/photos of a front yard which is split level. I'm looking for a flat design on both levels with a rendered retaining wall in the middle. Our driveway is sloped. How high could the wall go along the driveway? Appreciate any help thanks. Re: Split level Front yard 3Aug 07, 2011 10:27 pm I'd do a simple native or at least fully planted lower section. No lawn area. Mulched throughout. Maybe if its a big area, create some pathways meandering through using gravel or sawdust as a surface treatment. The top section or section closest to the home will more likely be used for practical purposes. Lawn area maybe but again look to create a space that is different or appealing, attracting the owner to further explore the space and maybe sit and enjoy it. Very general of course but doing split level is very tough to get to work. One space gets used, one doesn't.
