Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Jul 09, 2011 5:41 pm My dog has managed to rip up chunks of turf we had laid a couple of months ago. We have the lawn fenced of but he managed to get through it. He's ripped up a couple of big chunks with soil still attached, which I have just placed back where I think it came from, others he has more shredded strands of it that still have roots but no soil, and I cant really put them back in place easily. I have a feeling these bits are just going to die off leaving me with bare soil. So how do I fix these bald areas? Will I have to dig it out and lay new turf in these sections or can I use a seed or something that will sort of knit it all together again? Just keep the re-layed chunks moist till they take. For the bare bits you can buy a patch kit of seed which will be a basic grass the will make the patch green till the main turf repairs itself. Or just grab some of the dog shredded runners and plant them in the bare spots, they will eventually spread and fill the area in. Re: Need advice on fixing ripped up turf 3Jul 13, 2011 9:35 pm thanks for the info beatrix, I think its buffalo we have. The runner bits still seem to be green, so hopefully they will establish themselves again and fill in over spring. Built with Bentley homes in Doreen All moved in Dec 2009 Now for the garden!
