Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Jun 20, 2011 9:10 am Just wondering where is the best place in Sydney to get Merbau decking. Looking for boards about 140mm wide. Obviously after the best price and quality. There is a supplier in Queensland offering 138mm boards at $8.90L/m, they are kiln dried to 15% moisture. Good deal/quality until you work out freight from Queensland to Sydney. We got 90mm wide boards, but i know they do 140mm wide boards for about $8-9lm http://abbeytimber.com.au/ All I did was a google & yellow pages search for timber yards and then did A LOT of calling around. Re: Best place to get Merbau in Sydney? 3Jun 20, 2011 12:16 pm Thanks for the tip. I did start calling a few timberyards then it occurred to me the Homeone forum is a great resource to get good feed back on price and quality. 660l/m sounds like and awesome deck you must have - better go have a look at your build thread. We build the Saville 21 (you picked a good house , the deck wraps from the laundry door (2.2m out from the house) all the way along that side, into the Alfresco and out 1.6m past the back to line up with the water tank slab. We have a screen half built to cover the tank, but we ran out of timber, so need to get more. All up the deck is about 55sqm, and it has made the area so much more useable than if we had grassed or pebbled the area Re: Best place to get Merbau in Sydney? 5Jun 20, 2011 5:03 pm That sounds like an awesome deck. Sorry to hear you had a stressful time building (is there any otherway?). Good luck with all your landscaping we are about to begin that long hard road.
