Firstly, thanks for the great information available on this forum.
I've read the previous posts but haven't found direct answers to my questions, so I'm posting them here. Sorry if they've already been covered.
I have 5 separate lawn areas totalling around 180M3 at my house (Bullcreek, Perth) with at least 3 different types of lawn. They're all looking very ordinary despite quite a bit of attention and water and I've decided to do what is necessary to sort them out. Looks like EZ turf is the go.
I'm going to follow the advice given in the sticky thread (excellent info!) in regard to preparation, but what I need more information about is;
1/ Obviously the existing grass needs to be killed off. I would think hitting it with a dose of roundup would work, then give it 10-14 days to complete the job.
Do I need to remove all (or some, or none) of the dead grass before tilling and soil prep? I'm thinking it would be usable organic material and can be left to continue to break down. It seems like it would be a big job to remove much of it.
2/ It's now nearly winter so any turf laid is likely to be rather dormant. Does this mean I should put the job off until later in the year, say around Sep/Oct? What is the best time of year to do this project?
