Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 May 24, 2011 1:02 pm We need to get our gardens planted asap so they are established well and truly before we move in and commission the HSTP system. I don't like gardens in the middle of my yard, so we'll go with a garden bed around the perimeter of the disposal area and turf over the actual area - it will be around 30m of garden at 1.5 to 2m deep. I prefer the look of lower gardens, as in I don't really want to go over 1.5m tall (no taller than a 6 foot fence really). About all I have decided is I like the look of black mondo grass along the front edge of the garden, but no idea what to put behind. Also, I'm not a gardener, so I want to establish a garden that is going to look great, but not require lots and lots of work. We're at Innes Park (near the ocean close to Bundaberg). We'll have to bring in soil for the gardens as the ground is all clay. Would love ideas, plants anyone can suggest - things to look at more. I'll go to the Nursery and see what they recommend, but I'd like to some ideas first and do a bit of research before I do that. ~ trying to build our dream home by the sea ~ Re: Ideas for garden beds around HSTP disposal area 2May 30, 2011 1:34 pm Hi Rary You might like to try the Landcare nursery at TAFE on Walker Street. They open on Thursday and Fridays only (10am - 4pm?) but they know what they are talking about and should be able to recommend some plants that will be ok in the soil where you are. I understand that they are linked somehow to the Horticulture course at TAFE. They will know of some native plants that fit your requirements!
