Natural mulch is what sustains the supply of soil. Otherwise its all like driving from Brisbane to Darwin on one tank of fuel. Whilst the garden works well at first, its the long term implications of using pebbles are significant. Increased fertiliser dependancy, thta will cost. increases in pest and diseases with costs associated with the treatment and correction of that as well. Increased water needs also. Then there is the thermal mass of pebbles and the added energy costs to a home if the summer temps around your home are higher than they need be.
