Question for the wise ones: my mother had four roses in her small garden - Gold Bunny (climber, I think), French Vanilla, Dublin Bay and Hot Chocolate - that now all need to be put into pots for the minute. A few days ago we pruned them back to about eight or ten inches high and dug them up - probably not very well, I suspect. They are now sitting in buckets, with their roots covered in a small amount of hard clay.
In the next six months or so we will be moving house. For that reason I don't want to plant them again so I thought I would put them into pots. How is this done and how long can they sit there in the buckets? They have sentimental value as well, so I really don't want them to croak.
