(actually Ill have hardly any garden but yep lets say a hibiscus, frangipani, plants I cant remember the name of blah blah etc *clueless!*) anyhow my house wont be finished till those plants are out of season so what does one do then? my landscaper buys from a wholesale plant place.....would they still have them or do we stockpile some beforehand? I remember last time we couldnt get liriope for example at all when we wanted it which was frustrating Re: out of season plants.... 2Jan 08, 2008 7:02 pm Bec….All nurseries keep all plants all year round…..the only difference is, if they are out of season, they are not flowing at the time.
You will be able to get whatever you want…..minus the flowers! These will grow anywhere…..trust me!!! I couldn’t kill them if I tried! They are evergreen, and a great fill in plant. Very water tolerant as well. This because the demand is very high here and most stocks get cleaned out completely by retailers and landscapers alike, leaving the grower to source more tube stock from queensland or squirrel away propergating stock. this means we are left waiting sometimes 12months for the stock to be saleable again (alot doesn't even reach flowering before it is snapped up!) my nursery alone went through 800 frangipanis with no flower over the weekend! there was one in our version of the trading post 3m tall, apricot, you remove $1000!
I would choose a range of plants and then go through the yellow pages under nursery suppliers and wholesalers and talk to the growers about the chances of those plants they may grow being saleable when you need them or your landscaper will need them. Murraya could be a great option for you. It creates a great tall screening hedge but doesn't drop fruit like lily pilly. The flowers smell divine. 2 10240 4 14277 Unless there is something in special conditions the builder does not have to give you timeline.
