Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 May 03, 2011 9:37 am Hi, Looking at purchasing this artifical turf (tiles) from Bunnings: http://www.bunnings.com.au/products_pro ... _3605.aspx The tiles are 40cm x 40cm and you get 6 tiles in a pack for $89. Therefore $89, gets you 2.4m x 2.4m We only have quite a small area so 12 tiles ($178) should be enough for us. A few questions: 1. Is this particular grass ok for pets? 2. There's a good chance the tiles won't exactly fit into our space...anyone know how to make one of these tiles smaller in size? (do you need a tile cutter?) Any feedback on this particular product would be appreciated. We like the look of it compared to other artificial turf we have seen (this looks and feels more realistic). Re: Artificial Turf Tiles - Bunnings 6May 04, 2011 7:19 am Agent_009 1. Is this particular grass ok for pets? In a word: No. It's also environmentally disastrous, and in my opinion, looks really naff. Want more info and some qualified opinions? Yes it is plastic and can be bad for the environment - but so are disposable nappies, paper towel, tissues etc. Don't see them being manufactured any less. We have artificial turf on the beach area of our pool. We will also bs using it along with soft fall in areas of the kids playground. I figure the amount of real turf and plants I have elsewhere on our 3800sqm will offset any negative affects (oh and I use cloth nappies as well LOL) Some things are worth waiting for. I personally think fake turf looks horrible and devalues a property.

All one can do is present opinions, experience, pros and cons so the op can make up their mind. The links provide some solid info, feel free to add some "pros" links. There is a lot of artificial turf I really HATE...looks quite fake, too bright etc etc. This is one of the first ones I've seen which I really like. It looks very realistic to look at and also touch. I've actually had a change of heart though. The area we were thinking of getting this we are now getting "Environmentally Friendly Rubber Pavers" from Clark Rubber: http://www.clarkrubber.com.au/matting-a ... tiles.html (second one on page) However, we are still looking at getting a strip of this particular artificial grass next to our pool. It's only a small stretch (7m x 0.4m) and would be completey fenced so dogs wouldn't go near it. Re: Artificial Turf Tiles - Bunnings 14May 04, 2011 3:36 pm Agent_009 - we have fake grass as I said earlier next to our pool. Ours was from Amber Tiles and is great. Only on the extremely hot days (and I mean over 40') did it get too hot to sit on. We wanted it as a soft area for the kids to relax on rather then the pavers which surround 85% of the pool. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Artificial Turf Tiles - Bunnings 15May 04, 2011 4:01 pm I see that everyone misses the most important point with regard to fake grass. When you have a need to have quiet time or the family is wearing you down, you miss out on the opportunity to say “the grass needs cutting” and then grab a frothy from the fridge and go for a walk around the backyard for an hour. Its theraputic Yes, yes ,yes Artificial Turf Tiles - Bunnings 17May 04, 2011 4:39 pm Lunchtime - My DH has enough grass on the rest of our 3800sqm to mow without worrying about the fake turf LOL. We actually have a bowling green as turf out the front - so he has his special mower. Then the turf out the back is done on the ride on. He has plenty of "alone time" LMAO.
