Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Apr 27, 2011 5:34 pm is it possible to fix a SHS tube to a good neighbour fence upright post? (SHS post fixed to front side of good neighbour fence) say a length of SHS of about 400/600mm deep in order to fix timber screening across the top of my fence? i cant seem to find much info on the net nor this forum any info would be great thanks Re: timber fence screen query 2Apr 28, 2011 12:31 pm first thing would be to explain what an SHS tube is Then once everyone knows its the trade/tech name for square steel tube we could give an answer. I would suggest probably not as the estate guidelines may have suggested colorbond fencing for a specific look to the neighborhood and timber screening would alter that significantly. If you were to do it you would have to either screw/bolt it on or clamp it on. Why do you want the screen? Is it because you neighbors land is higher than yours? It seems to be quite popular recently to put a screen up with out even knowing if there is a problem with people seeing/looking into yards. Doesn't anyone try to get to know there neighbors anymore? Re: timber fence screen query 3Apr 28, 2011 2:28 pm No my land is higher than theres, and i'd prefer the privacy. My alfresco is only 3 meters from the rear fence and only about 1.8 to the sides so there isnt much privacy at all. i guess ill be doing them more of the favour by putting it up on my side. i dont think the development has any requirement on fencing screening as there are a few different types in the area already. but screw fixing or clamping is the way to go, not sure if clamping would give it enough support but? does anyone have any pics of such a thing? 2 6314 There is no reason why building contract reconciliation cannot be done prior to handover, if the builder won't do it get someone to do it for you. Why would you pay for… 3 5012 Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 11504 |
